| BWAA WORLD CHAMPION |
BWAA athlete and regular Great Britain team member David Gale became the world champion in his event [F51 discus] at the 2006 IPC World Athletics Championship held in the Dutch town of Assen.
David turned in a superb first throw which broke the Championship record and won him the gold medal. Conditions were terrible, with torrential rain affecting the competition, but David made a great tactical move to accept the early throw as a competition throw.
After a tense and nailbiting competition, which saw David having to sit through two rounds of opponents throws, his early throw proved too much for the rest of the field and he emerged as gold medal winner. A great performance.

| BEIJING PARALYMPICS 2008 |
The BWAA is hoping to have strong representation in the upcoming 2008 Paralympics being held in the Chinese capital Beijing. Training is already under way at Stoke Mandeville and the BWAA is hoping to have several athletes travelling to the Paralypics as part of the Great Britain squad.
Dave Gale [see above] is a current member of the GB squad and World Champion. He expects to be competing for team GB in Beijing,
"To say i'm looking forward to the Beijing games is an understatement. The 2008 Paralympics will be tough, but I just want to get out there and compete for Great Britain. Nothing could make me prouder to medal for team GB."
